South PTSO organizes three to five coffees per grade throughout the academic year. The program has been running since 2009, and it arose out of the need for a common venue for parents to raise concerns and to share tips about what in their children's high school life works, what does not, and to form a support community for parents. A "What to Expect" Coffee is held at a host South family home, usually from 8:00-9:30 AM, sometimes from 7:30 -9:00PM on a weekday. Issues raised by parents at these meetings are typically answered and if not they are channeled to the school. A parent volunteer serves as a Grade Level Class Liaison. The liaison’s role is to coordinate "What to Expect" Coffees and chaperones for grade-level events. |
