Data Committee (Email Coordinator/Membership/School Directory) – Handles anything related to the PTSO database. This includes maintaining database, sending email communications through Constant Contact, overseeing donations and recording into database, putting together school directory from database including formatting, copying and distribution.

Grants Committee – Reviews applications and makes grant awards in accordance with PTSO guidelines and budget, normally twice per year in the fall and spring.

Grounds – Helps maintain and beautify the gardens/grounds around the school building.

Health, Safety and Crisis – PTSO liaison for any issues of health, safety and crisis at the school, member of the Newton South Crisis Team.

Hospitality – Responsible for and/or assists with teacher appreciation and community building events such as Coffee Breaks (providing food and drink for staff on the day grades are due in fall and winter), Potluck Dinner, Faculty/Staff Back to School lunch and End-of-Year Breakfast, grade level “What to Expect” coffees, gifts.

METCO Liaison – Provides PTSO support for the METCO program if desired by the NSHS METCO Counselor.

Music at South – Provides parent support for the music program (band, orchestra, choir) at Newton South.

SouthFest – The senior after-prom party held at school from midnight to 4:00 AM focused on having fun safely.
